UPDATES AROUND THE LITTLE HOUSE

Greetings friends!

I hope the good Lord is keeping you well wherever you are! Happy fall every one! It's been a while since I last posted! Life has been lifing. But I am thankful to God for keeping me.

While I've been offline, I continued to tackle some few projects both indoors and outdoors which I'd like to share with you!

1. The biggest of all is (drum roll.....) We got our backyard fence installed!

This is a project I wanted to do immediately after moving in, but quickly found out it was an expensive one given the size of the lot so I put it off. But after seeing so many cases of kids on the spectrum eloping and falling in danger; fencing off the backyard moved on top of the list! I didn't want to risk. I'm thankful to God i was able to fence off half of the lot and have it done; debt free!

2. I had to remove the shrubs I had planted in front of the porch! I have the drain spout pouring into that area and when it would rain; those shrubs were almost covered in water. Since clay soil doesn't drain quickly, those arbovitaes had started browning which is a sign of root rot. Well, they got a new home at my parents' house where they are thriving. I replaced them with stones. It looks beautiful and no more drainage issues.

3. I've added some seating on the front porch. I'm enjoying seating there in the evening and watch my son play. We are officially porch sitters!

4. I'm in the process of prepping for planting my foundation shrubs. I've so for removed nandina stamps; and the leftovers of what was once weed fabric. I hoped to have them in the ground this fall, but I've been forced to postpone it to spring due to the soil condition. I'm looking up on how to amend it before planting. I plan on using a natural edge so I've started the digging process.

Indoors;

5. I installed a floating shelf/ mantle above TV

6. I've switched out the curtains to add more color and to brighten the space. They are the same floral print on different backgrounds for additional interest.

7. I invested in a medium size hatch to store my fine china  and other. I've always wanted one, and had hoped to buy one used. However, i couldn't find one in the wood tone which matched the existing furniture. I was thrilled to find this one on Amazon.

With my amateur fall decor; I'm loving how the great room looks. I've got compliments from the few people I've hosted saying it "feels warm".

Hope this inspires you to do that small project in your home you've been putting off!

Happy fall once again.
