OUR PEACEFUL HOME
Hello friends!
I hope the good Lord is keeping you well wherever you are. Welcome again to this little house. I hope you stay awhile!
Schools are out for summer break and summer is officially here! It is blazing hot right here in central North Carolina. I've had to limit our outdoor time to early mornings 6:30am - 11:00am and in the evening; 6:00pm - 8:30pm.
Yes, we are up that early; even the lad; (especially the lad)! In fact, I don't need an alarm most mornings. Like this morning, he was up at 6:10am. We headed straight outside; I prayed out there then after I made breakfast which we had breakfast at the patio. It was so wonderful! I see myself acquiring proper sitting for that area in the future when I get to work on the backyard.
For now, I am working on the front yard; doing some landscaping keeping myself occupied in the evening after dinner as the lad gets his last play of the day. The DIY landscaping is back breaking but so rewarding at the end of a project. I'll be telling you more about it in future posts.
It's a peaceful midday, the lad is taking a nap and I get to work on this post as I sip on some freshly homemade lemonade.
I want to give you a glimpse of our great room it is right now. But please take note; I am not professional interior designer; but a woman following her sight tastes to make my home look good. Actually not so long ago, I didn't know what decor style was my favorite because everything out there looks so good! I tried the farmhouse style and the modern style. I liked both for awhile (2-3month each) but they weren't giving me the "lived in home" vibe I was looking for.
Before we moved, I was transitioning our apartment home from neutral /minimalist decor and was thrifting vintage art pieces to bring in some color because I was on a tight budget. Turned out I really liked it and got so many compliments from my visitors about how calm and homy our home was. So when I realized I was failing terribly at creating a "homy" home, I decided to go vintage thrifting again. Best way to go for me! I love how everything has turned out so far; without breaking the bank! A win-win right!
I guess I'm of the vintage style in this season and I love it. Everything is coming together so wonderfully and excited to share it with you my friends.
Most of the decor items are from the goodwill. From the wall art to the table lamps; some of the blue and whites, the brass ducks. The 2 extra chairs in the dining area and the arm chair in the sitting area were thrifted. The rugs, the pillow covers, the console table, entryway table and the TV stand are from Amazon. The sofa and loveseat have been with us since 2017. I just got a slip-on cover from Amazon to give them a new kid friendly look.
It's an open floor plan, this is what you see upon walking in;
This is basically my spring/summer sitting arrangement. Wondering about the TV; I have it in the corner for now. I like switching things around. Come fall, I'll be moving furniture around for a new look.
Thanks friends for stopping by; I hope to see you soon by the grace of God.
Peace be with you all.
Rita.
